Spring Mini Sessions- Opinions Wanted

At the end of March I'm going to be doing some mini sessions at the The Scrapbook Zone .  We are going with a Spring-like theme and each session will last about 15 minutes. I need the sessions to be simple yet classy/cute- not cheesy, know what I mean? I was thinking of doing a pettiskirt/fresh flower thing for the girls.  Do you think that this idea could fly? The girls could wear some leggings to the store and quickly slip on one of the pettiskirts over their leggings- they would also be welcome to wear their own Sping dress or whatever else they choose to put on... the props would not a a requirement.

And the boys...  well, I'm stuck.  Any ideas?  They would be welcome to wear dress clothes and it would be super cute if we had a boy and a girl all dressed up with some flowers.... or I was thinking what's more Spring than baseball- but how could I do that?

but for the boys.... what can I do for the boys?  Don't be shy- I need ideas.

I may get over my thing for black and white photos...but not yet.  Tomorrow.. maybe.

 

Pettiskirt Ruffles..

 I let Rebecca try on one of the pettiskirts that I bought for a spring picture project - she couldn't get enough of the ruffles.  She'd scrunch the skirt up, the watch the layers of ruffles fall-- scrunch the ruffles back up and watch them fall again.

Interested In A Photoshoot With Some Friends?

I need to bulk up my teenage/young adult portfolio and am looking for some girls, or guys, or both (ages 15+) who would be interested in an urban-type photoshoot. I'll take up to 5 in a group and each person can have a $20 print credit with a watermarked cd that you can post online- (facebook etc.).   There is an option to buy more but you are in no way obligated to do so.

These photos will be used for advertising and promotional purposes, so a signed model release will be required for those who are willing to do it.  That sounds a little bit more of a big deal than it actually is- A model release is a piece of paper saying that I can post your picture online and use your photo for any flyers that I might hand out. Those who are under 18 need to have their parents sign it.

Officially official.

 

We are now the proud owners of a whole new set of numbers that tell us that we had better pay taxes ..LOL ... and although we did keep track and pay for the little bit of income that came in last year, it was as a hobby not a business. I'm feeling pretty excited about the whole thing... and nervous.... and oh so official. It was time to change though- I've gotten some great opportunities that I was feeling like I couldn't do without getting our papers in order.  

Den has been busy this weekend getting our domain name and our new site templates ordered and set up. It still needs a lot of work before we can go live with it, but it's getting there. If you type in our address, it will forward you to this blog until it's finished. Someone asked me a little while ago if Dennis is supportive to what I was doing- he's been more than supportive. He's does all of the computer software, product research,  photoshop fixes to the pictures and anything else that I need help with or opinions on... except for picture taking, he doesn't really have any interest in that. I'm lucky, we make a good team and I couldn't do it without him.

So... that's that.  We are officially doing business as JCL Portraits. Wish us luck  :)  

Her Perch...

Because it's Tuesday...

 and she let me take her picture.... 

 

      

I used my reflector on both of these.  She was facing the shade and the sun was behind her... I placed the reflector in front of her in a way that the sun would bounce from the sun back into her face and go under the brim of her hat- thus eliminating the shadows that would be there otherwise... It  works pretty slick,  a nice (not to mention cheaper and easier) way to fill than a flash..
